About the Position: The incumbent of this position will serve as Classroom Support Specialist for the US Army Corps of Engineers Learning Center (ULC) in Redstone Arsenal, AL.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Coordinating a wide variety of classrooms (i.e., Computer Based Classrooms and Non- Computer Based Classrooms; (2) Ensuring classroom set up, to include computers, multi-media resources, VTC equipment and course material is available; (3) Assisting in the development and maintenance of the calendar and/or database for all classroom-related operations; AND (4) Utilizing technical knowledge to identify issues with all audio/visual equipment (i.e., computers and overhead projection systems, VTCs).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Support the execution of a training program through scheduling, supply support, and classroom coordination with course Managers.
  • Ensure the operability of all classroom-related equipment vital to the programs (computers, training Aids, audio-visual equipment, etc.).
  • Ensure all classroom support functions are accomplished on time (scheduling, space requirements, operability of equipment, etc.).
  • Maintain the classroom during program execution (daily coordination and modification, general administration, records, etc.).
  • Review requirements, operability, services, and equipment and makes necessary changes at the conclusion of each program. Ensures all classroom equipment and related support items are available and accounted for.
