This job involves handling claims for dependents and estates of deceased Navy personnel, including processing travel requests, verifying benefits, and maintaining records in specialized systems.
It supports families by explaining entitlements and preparing necessary documents.
A good fit would be someone with experience in administrative or claims processing, strong attention to detail, and comfort using databases and communicating sensitively with stakeholders.
You will serve as a Claims Examiner (Dependents & Estates) in the Navy Casualty Office of NAVY PERSONNEL COMMAND.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing an automated travel system to process Next of Kin (NOK) travel requests and liquidate subsequent claims; 2) Confirming payment of death benefits using various online tracking databases; 3) Inputting and maintaining accurate case information in an automated processing system (i.e.
Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS) or similar system); and 4) Assisting in preparing correspondence and communicating benefit entitlements and case status to stakeholders.
