This civil engineer position with the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers involves designing and planning infrastructure projects like flood barriers, roads, and military facilities, while managing teams, budgets, and ensuring everything meets safety and quality standards.
It includes site visits, creating detailed plans and cost estimates, and working with contractors and stakeholders to get projects built on time.
A good fit would be someone with several years of hands-on engineering experience who enjoys leading projects and solving real-world construction challenges.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Performs a variety of civil engineering site design duties relating to civil works and/or military site design projects, including site modeling, preparation of complete construction drawings and specifications/related civil engineering analyses.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement listed in the education section below, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements on the IOR and listed below: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have: (GS-12) Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes as developing civil site conceptual designs, alternative analysis, and contract plans and specifications using engineering procedures, requirements, and regulations for civil works and military projects such as earth levees, floodwalls, roadways, parking lots, firing ranges and airfields; preparing, technical provisions of contract specifications; conducting field inspections of projects under construction, and preparing field inspections reports; and preparing quantity estimates for projects consisting of various structures as noted above; proficient in using Civil 3D software; developing budgets and cost estimates for assigned projects; and overseeing and advising lower graded personnel.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
For this grade level of GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
