The Bureau of Child Support Enforcement is seeking a motivated individual to join our dedicated team in the Division of Central Operations.

In this role, you will help us provide customer service to the general public, process governmental inquiries, and utilize centralized enforcement remedies.

Requirements

This position is responsible for interpreting Federal/Pennsylvania/BCSE and other state’s program procedures and regulations while overseeing multiple state-wide enforcement programs.

As a Child Support Enforcement Specialist for the Department of Human Services (DHS), you will be responsible for answering the Nationwide helpline as well as reviewing paternity forms for completeness.

The individual in this position must have a high level of Microsoft knowledge/skills as well as the ability to multi-task duties based on priority and due dates.

The incumbent should be an upbeat team player that works well with minimum supervision, as well as having excellent listening skills.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • You will report to the office 5 days per week during the probationary period.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after successful completion of your probationary period (3 days telework, 2 days in office).

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in a domestic relations office which included the interpretation, application and explanation of policies and regulations and analysis of information; or
  • A bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training including one year in a domestic relations office which included the interpretation, application and explanation of policies and regulations and analysis of information.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.

Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
