Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading the Kids Hope Alliance by developing and managing programs that support children's early learning, school readiness, juvenile justice prevention, out-of-school activities, teen programming, and special needs services in Jacksonville.

The CEO oversees operations, builds partnerships with community organizations and city agencies, and ensures programs meet youth development goals while reporting to a board of directors.

Ideal candidates are experienced leaders passionate about child welfare, with strong skills in program management, advocacy, and collaboration in nonprofit or public service settings.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing programs or operations
  • At least 3 years in a leadership capacity in a business, agency, or similar organization
  • Ability to develop and oversee the Essential Services Plan for Kids, including categories like early learning, juvenile justice, and special needs
  • Experience in budget development, contract execution, and financial oversight of trust funds
  • Strong skills in building strategic alliances, partnerships, and advocacy for child welfare policies
  • Proficiency in board management, policy implementation, and preparing annual reports

The Kids Hope Alliance is actively seeking a Chief Executive Officer.

This position reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for comprehensively developing, overseeing, managing, and implementing the Essential Services Plan for Kids as well as overseeing the implementation and management of children and youth programs, services and activities permitted under the Plan through third-party service providers and other City agencies.

Requirements

  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the community.
  • Ensures that programs, services, and activities support youth development outcomes.
  • Ensures establishment of and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Determines effective program design with the approval of the Board.
  • Provides direction and support to directors to ensure positive outcomes and goal attainment that are responsive to customer needs.
  • Oversees the development of KHA's long term goals and objectives regarding the services to be provided to children and youth and the impact of the services on those served.
  • Ensures active participation by board members and supports effective board roles and responsibilities.
  • Educates the board about youth and children's issues.
  • Works with the board to present a budget that is presented to the Mayor's office with funding in the five essential service categories.
  • Ensures the implementation and monitoring of funded program services in collaboration with the financial management and operations staff.
  • Executes contracts and other documents on behalf of the board.
  • Implements procedures to ensure the department complies with all policies governing program and service delivery.
  • Oversees the Kids Hope Alliance Trust Funds.
  • Represents the City of Jacksonville on local and state levels through participation on boards, committees and various professional organization and groups that work toward children and youth welfare, early learning, family support and other family strengthening efforts such as the Early Learning Coalition of Duval, Community Foundation of Jacksonville and the Duval County Public Schools.
  • Develops strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials.
  • Develops collaborative partnerships with providers, parents, families' funders and community organizations.
  • Advocates for children in terms of funding priorities, public policies and child rights.
  • Develop the annual report that is provided to the Mayor and City Council.
  • Identifies the essential types of programs, services and activities to be included in the Essential Services Plan for Kids under the following categories: Early Learning, Literacy and School readiness; Juvenile Justice Prevention and Intervention; Out of School Programming; Pre-teen and Teen Programming; and Special Needs.

Additional Information

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in managing programs or operations with at least three (3) years in a leadership capacity in a business, agency or non-profit organization,
  • Must pass a Level 2 background screening prior to employment.
