Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for analyzing samples for metal content using Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry (ICP) as well as maintaining analytical instruments, ensuring they are operational, and applying various troubleshooting techniques to address any issues that may arise.

Your analytical duties will require adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while conducting analytical procedures.

It will also be essential to record daily temperature readings for the refrigerators managed by the metals section.

Additionally, you will be responsible for sample receiving which involves daily tasks such as processing samples, unpacking, sorting, and assigning laboratory numbers to inorganic samples.

You will also organize sample containers for distribution to various analytical sections within the laboratory and input sample data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry; or
  • A bachelor’s degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license that is not under suspension.


Other Requirements:

  • You must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport for this position. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment.
