Job Description
Summary
This job is for a chaplain at a correctional facility in South Carolina, where you'll lead religious services, provide counseling and support to inmates, manage volunteers, and connect with community resources.

- Ability to complete four units of CPE within 24 months of hire
- Successful completion of four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire
Full Job Description
- Serve as institutional volunteer coordinator.
- Recruit, orient, and supervise all institutional volunteers.
- Conduct and coordinate worship services and religious education classes for all recognized faith groups.
- Provide pastoral care for inmates, to include deaths and critical illnesses of family members.
- Provide individual and group pastoral counseling and provide life skills classes.
- Visit inmates in all areas of the institution on a regular basis, with visitation in special management units at least once a week.
- Submit necessary reports and maintain all necessary documentation.
- Serve as liaison to community religious resources.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
The equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological school, additional clinical pastoral education and/or work experience in a clinical pastoral setting.SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Must have the equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary; ordination as a priest, minister, or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement; one (1) year of pastoral experience; and must have completed two (2) CPE units under the supervision of a CPE certified educator.
Will be required to have 4 units of CPE within 24 months of hire.
