The Department of Labor and Industry is searching for a driven individual to educate customers on commonwealth requirements and work with the public to keep all Pennsylvanians safe. This position focuses on investigations, audits, and enforcement of asbestos occupations accreditation and certification as well as lead certification law and regulations. Requirements

As a Certification, Accreditation and Licensing Inspector, you will inspect stores, factories, shops and auctions that sell products such as bedding, furniture and toys to determine if they are compliant with Commonwealth laws and regulations.

Inspectors record ledgers required for sterilization and disinfection of different products maintained by renovators, dealers, rental facilities and auctioneers. Additional duties include:

  • Inspects asbestos and lead abatement project sites
  • Audits asbestos and lead abatement training providers to ensure compliance with Commonwealth rules, regulations and laws.
  • Prepares reports of inspection and audit findings
  • Orders removal of non-certified products and individuals as well as terminates work activity if work practice violates an applicable law or regulation.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders, administration and the public
  • Reviews, analyzes, and recommends changes to the asbestos, lead, bedding, upholstery, and stuffed toy regulations and procedures for compliance with federal laws.
  • Serves as a professional resource and technical consultant to asbestos and lead training providers, abatement companies, and retailers on interpretation, implementation, adherence, and compliance of state and federal requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Certification, Accreditation, and Licensing Inspector Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in building maintenance or construction, workplace safety or inspection, retail sales, or customer service; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • All positions require at the time of hire a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker training course completion certificate, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker training course completion certificate, and a valid lead-based paint activities inspector training course completion certificate issued by a training provider accredited by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a state approved by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to accredit such providers.
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • All employees must obtain a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker certification, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker certification, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities inspector certification within the probationary period.


Other Requirements:

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Delaware County by date of hire.
