THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2022000 and is part of the KY J1, National Guard.

***NOTE: Current on-board applicants (AREA 1B, Title 32 employees within the J1 only) will retain current tenure and be temporarily promoted or reassigned, all others will be hired with indefinite tenure.* MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration.

Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc.

Experience providing knowledge of the principles, policies, and goals of the Casualty Assistance Program. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

Experience researching and interpreting regulations, policies, and laws.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.

As a CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, GS-0301-9, you will provide administrative support to states that occur casualties while soldiers are in a duty and non-duty status.

Provide support to Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Center (CMAOC), Soldiers, Commanders, Federal agencies, Casualty Notification/Assistance Officers, Military Funeral Honors teams, funeral/cemetery directors, NOK, relatives, and other interested parties.

Receive notifications, initiate casualty reports, contact unit responsible for notification, brief key personnel, assist Funeral Details, and provide assistance to Next of Kin.

Responsible for 24/7 casualty management.

Assist the Casualty Assistance Center with assignment of a trained Casualty Assistance Officer and brief notification officer of any specials needs or concerns.

Receive notification of death of veterans with requests for burial honors and forward to Military Funeral Honors personnel.

Identify cases where exceptions to policy may be necessary and notify supervisor.

Work with the Casualty Assistance Officer and the Survivor Outreach Services personnel to ensure the surviving family members needs are taken care of.

Assist the CMAOC and CAC in preparing travel orders and arrangements. Brief personnel on procedures for casualty notification, NOK assistance and burial honors.

Conduct Casualty Assistance/Notification training to all units within the state and provide training classes. Assist the Summary Court Marshall Officer in resolving issues.

Prepare correspondences, materials, forms, reports, etc. Maintain forms, files, and databases related to casualty tracking and assignment of notification and assistance officers.

Perform other duties as assigned.
