Full Job Description

This is a Non-Civil Service position located in the Office of the Metropolitan Trustee.

The Cashier & Receptionist performs the duties of processing walk in tax payments quickly, accurately and efficiently, providing customer service as per Office of the Trustee standards, handling check till operations and safeguarding Metro assets.

The Office of the Trustee is a Constitutional office that was established as a tax collection agency for each county in the state of Tennessee. The Trustee in Davidson County collects Real Property, Personalty and Public Utility Taxes. This office also administers the State of Tennessee Tax Relief Program, Tax Deferral Program, Tax Freeze Program, collects and processes Delinquent Taxes, Central Business Improvement District Taxes, Gulch Central Business Improvement District Taxes and Vegetation Liens.

Requirements

  • Ensure that each taxpayer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, and all other aspects of customer service.
  • Accurately and efficiently enter transactions into the eGov tax accounting system and accurately maintain all payment at the till.
  • Communicate customer requests to management.
  • Balance the till daily, print till report and give it and all payments to supervisor for deposit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma and (5) five years of increasingly responsible experience in customer service-related work.

*Additional education may be considered In lieu of some experience*

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
