Requirements

As a Carpenter 1, you will be responsible for construction, renovations, and operations in the Carpenter Shop that supports 200 residents and over 700 staff.

You will perform skilled tasks in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings throughout the facility.

You will also work with other trades to complete projects such as pouring concrete, moving equipment and furniture, and assisting with welding.

This role requires the ability to select proper tools, materials, and methods for each assignment while completing work in a neat and professional manner.

In addition, you will read blueprints and drawings, preliminary work sketches, and adhere to safety precautions to protect patients, staff, and visitors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel needed
  • Free parking
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
