Summary

This job is for an experienced carpenter who will handle repairs, renovations, and installations on wooden structures and furniture in state buildings across Pennsylvania.

Requirements

In this role, you will perform a full range of journeyman level carpentry duties. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Planning and laying out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints, and your own knowledge of construction or needed repairs
  • Deciding the appropriate course of action required for each assignment, estimating time and material requirements, and selecting the proper tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Performing skilled bench work, repairs, remodeling, and renovations.
  • Installing and repairing doors, partitions, and modular furniture.
  • Always being aware of job hazards and safety measures.
  • At times, serving as a lead worker over helpers assisting in various phases of work by directing work as a team leader, providing assistance, and reviewing the work for adherence to standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Essential position - required to report to work during emergencies, office closings, and mandatory snow and ice removal.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
