Key Requirements

  • Ability to maintain ongoing communication with military clients to ensure completion of Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) requirements
  • Skills in providing personalized guidance for developing Individual Development Plans (IDP) and Individual Transition Plans (ITP)
  • Experience organizing and facilitating events like job fairs and career workshops
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining relationships with employers, businesses, and employment agencies to create job networks
  • Knowledge of teaching job search skills, including resume writing and interviewing techniques
  • Familiarity with facilitating SkillBridge program sessions and trainings using standardized procedures

Full Job Description

You will serve as a CAREER SERVICES SPECIALIST at MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing a full range of career coaching duties and advisement in the areas of employment, education, and vocational or technical programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will maintain continuous communication with military members to assist with their completion of the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) requirements.
  • You will provide individualized instruction, advice, and guidance to assist the clients with their completion of the Individual Development Plan (IDP) and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) in support of their post-separation goals.
  • You will organize special events, such as job and career fairs and facilitates and/or supports all other assigned activities and events.
  • You will establish and maintain of relationships with corporate personnel, small businesses, chambers of commerce, state employment services, and private employment agencies to develop a network of potential employment opportunities for clients.
  • You will assist clients in developing job search skills such as resume writing and interviewing techniques.
  • You will facilitate SkillBridge informational sessions and trainings using HQMC standardized program procedures and protocols to support the client’s understanding and completion of all program requirements.
