The office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Programs (OASW (CBRND)) supports a comprehensive strategic framework for management and oversight of the Department's CBRN Defense Programs.
The incumbent is serves as subject matter expert and advisor providing professional and technical coordination, analysis, policy development, implementation, and oversight to the DASW (CBRND).
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
You may qualify at the NH-IV level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-III grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to lead the development and oversight of strategic guidance implementation for multidimensional program and portfolio capability delivery, to include test and evaluation integration; oversee funding requirements; providing capabilities to sustain military operations and increase effectiveness attributed to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense hazards and threats; and establish new fundamental concepts and criteria and stimulate the development of new systems, policies, methodologies, and techniques..
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Provide professional and technical coordination, analysis, policy development, implementation, and oversight of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense capability development and delivery to the warfighter; applies general technical science and mission engineering best practices to pioneer new capability development, rapid capability integration, and enhanced product development and acquisition.
At the portfolio level, evaluate alternatives, oversees funding requirements, and assess project feasibility with the material developers and operational test agencies against validated requirements.
Oversee collaborative technical studies involving risk and performance of complex architectures against threat capabilities evolving over time with demonstrated experience building consensus amongst stakeholders to solve problems of common interest.
Participate in the planning, programming, and budgetary decisions affecting all programs in their area of purview.
Work with senior executive leaders and managers, to establish new fundamental concepts and criteria and stimulate the development of new systems, policies, methodologies, and techniques.
