The Road Services Division is actively seeking a team player with strong Web and SharePoint site development skills to help support the agency as its external and internal communications needs increase.

This position will be part of the ongoing effort to ensure efficient access to public-facing information and tools on the division’s Internet site and is vital in supporting employee communications and information sharing on the division’s internal SharePoint sites.

As a knowledge expert this position will be part of a high-performing team that is a leader in providing excellent customer service and consistently delivering high-quality products on demand in short notice.

Requirements

  • Work closely with the division’s web lead and the Roads Communications Team to publish public-facing content on the division’s website and to maintain and enhance its online tools.
  • Collaborate with Roads’ SharePoint Collection Administrators to provide publishing and technical support for the division’s Intranet, other SharePoint site collections, and MS Teams sites.
  • Develop and design webpages and web sites following established guidelines, architecture, and templates.
  • Update and enhance existing web pages to ensure user-friendliness and accessibility.
  • Create web graphics and edit photos in Adobe Photoshop or other applicable software; optimize images and graphics files.
  • Conduct thorough testing of webpages and interfaces; document and report any issues or bugs; rectify bugs as appropriate.
  • Resolve problems encountered on the division webpages and SharePoint sites; escalate and refer complex issues for action.
  • Collaborate with the division’s web lead and Roads Communication Team to map and publish road closure information on the MyCommute website (including after hours as needed).
  • Contribute as part of a team responsible for learning and training staff across the division on new collaborative technologies.
  • Present created content to various audiences.
  • Actively contribute ideas, listen to others, and show respect for different perspectives.
  • Effectively communicate with a broad range of customers, teams, and other agencies.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and provide support or coordination if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, information technology or a related field – or any combination of education, skills, training, and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML with the ability to build and publish web pages.
  • Experience utilizing a content management system, with a preference for Sitecore, to publish and manage public-facing webpages.
  • Proficiency in the use of Adobe Photoshop and demonstrated ability creating images, editing photos and graphics for web and SharePoint pages.
  • Demonstrated experience constructing, publishing and migrating SharePoint sites along with their associated components.
  • Displays self-motivation, independence, responsibility and a collaborative spirit as a valuable team member.
  • Proficiency in facilitating team and client meetings and delivering well-organized, informative presentations.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to work within scope, timeline, and available resources to deliver user-friendly, high-quality, equitable, and accessible web products.

    Experience with business process automation leveraging tools such as Power Automate, integrated with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, including strong proofreading skills.
  • Ability to tactfully communicate difficult or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to function as an effective team player in an agile, matrixed team.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits customer-centric focus.
  • Demonstrated ability in supporting a culture of cooperation and inclusion and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Experience in a transportation or public works agency.
  • Strong Sitecore content management system skills.
  • Experience using SharePoint site migration and management tools (ShareGate).

TELEWORKING REQUIREMENT: We will work in the office at least three days a week to foster connection and responsiveness, arrive prepared and on time, and structure meetings with clear goals and next steps.

WORK LOCATION: Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Your primary onsite workspace will be at King Street Center, 201 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA, and occasional work from other Road Services locations.

Employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
