Job Description

Summary

This job involves performing daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep living areas clean and safe in a facility that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

You'll handle housekeeping duties like mopping floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, and organizing supplies while following a schedule that doesn't disrupt resident programs.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in custodial, housekeeping, or pest control work related to the job area

  • Skill in cleaning walls, doors, furniture, beds, picture frames, mirrors, and ledges on a scheduled basis
  • Proficiency in scrubbing and sanitizing restrooms, showers, lavatories, commodes, and floors
  • Capability to remove outdoor debris, empty receptacles, and keep janitorial supplies organized
  • Adherence to a planned work schedule while organizing duties to avoid conflicts with unit programs
  • Willingness to follow up on supervisory inspections within required timeframes

Under the direct supervision of the Building/Grounds Supervisor, responsible for housekeeping/custodial activities for building/units.
  • Maintain floors in unit by dust mopping, wet mopping, clean edges, and corners.
  • Walls, doors, furniture and beds are to be cleaned as scheduled.
  • Picture frames, furniture, mirrors and ledges should be dusted daily.
  • Clean restrooms and showers by scrubbing lavatories, walls, commodes, and floors.
  • Search, remove and dispose of debris from outside of the unit. Empties cigarette receptacles.
  • Keep supplies and janitorial closet organized and clean. Issues supplies daily.
  • Follows a planned work schedule. Organizes duties to avoid conflict with unit programs.
  • Follow-up in allowed time on inspections of units given by supervision.
Position(s) for this posting are located at Whitten Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

Experience in custodial, housekeeping or pest control work that is directly related to the area of employment.
