The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a committed and skilled Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher (Construction Cluster/Building Trades) to join our vocational instruction team.
In this impactful role, you will deliver hands-on training to inmate students at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Smithfield, equipping them with practical skills that support personal growth and long-term success.

In this position, you will tailor curriculum materials to meet individual student needs based on screening and placement assessments.
You will design and apply a range of instructional strategies to present content at an appropriate level, ensuring an effective learning experience for each student.
You will deliver both classroom and hands-on shop instruction across various building and construction trades.
Your responsibilities will include assigning and evaluating coursework, developing and administering tests and quizzes to measure student progress, and completing final evaluations for all enrolled students.
In addition, you will maintain accurate inmate education records in compliance with DOC and facility policies and procedures.
You will also track student attendance and manage the ordering of classroom supplies, materials, and equipment to support instruction.
