Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping manage budgets for Army programs in Alaska, including tracking spending, preparing financial reports, and ensuring funds are used properly for things like recreation and family support.

Full Job Description

This position is located with the NAF Financial Management Office and may be filled at Fort Greely or Fort Wainwright. The hiring manager will determine the actual duty location upon selection.

Incentives and Bonuses Up to $10,000 recruitment or relocation and/or retention incentive may be paid (service agreement required).

Recruitment incentives are applicable to newly hired individuals/rehired individuals. Relocation incentives are applicable to current, regular full-time NAF employees.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1.

Knowledge of basic principles and practices of budget formulations in order to prepare written funding justifications, consolidate budget requests, request additional funds, and monitor expenditures against obligations for specified programs.

2. Skill in balancing funds between accounts; i.e., transferring funds between line items or sub-projects or identifying excess funds for possible transfer to other operating programs.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Knowledge and understanding of the substantive nature of the Army's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and community and family support operating programs and their interrelationships and funding channels.

A Bachelor's Degree in a financial management related field. Knowledge or experience in NAF/APF financial programs. CPA certification. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Budget Analyst for assigned Appropriated Fund (APF) and/or Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) programs.
  • As a team member, works under the guidance of and provides assistance to a higher-level analyst or supervisor by using required/applicable automation software/hardware to perform analytical, technical, and administrative tasks.
  • Assists in the development of reporting requirements for the preparation, collection, justification, and submission of budgetary data.
  • Monitors the execution of approved budgets, to include obligations, expenditures and/or income.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with all levels of the organization/serviced organizational elements.
