This position is located at a National Park Service unit, and you will independently perform routine budget analyst duties.
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/12/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).
If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Applying the principles and practices of budget formulation to review, edit, and consolidate budget estimates, and Monitor budget expenditures and identify budget variances, and Prepare a variety of budgetary reports using automated financial systems and databases.

-OR- EDUCATION: Have completed two full years of graduate level study leading to a master's or equivalent degree that is directly related to this position and has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
Only graduate education in excess of the first year (18 semester hours) is creditable when combining.
For example, I have six months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 27 semester hours of graduate education leading to a graduate degree in a directly related field of study (50% of the education requirement).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Stones River National Battlefield Murfreesboro, TN San Juan Puerto Rico Intermountain Regional Office- Denver, CO or Santa Fe, NM Midwest Regional Office-Comptroller's Office-Omaha, NE Assists with the development, preparation, and revision of the unit budget, and in the preparation of instructions to managers regarding funding estimates and budget planning for the coming fiscal year.
Drafts procedural guidance concerning the format for submission of annual estimates of funding needs.
Provides required data and assistance to program managers and unit staff in developing budget and program planning summaries.
Assists with execution of the current year budget for the unit, including analysis of needs, recommendation for modifications, and making allotments.
Checks the accuracy and adequacy of budget justification data submitted in support of budget estimates or requests for allotments by comparison with source documents (e.g., acquisition records, historical financial data, payroll reports, and fixed cost data).
Prepares data summaries for inclusion in routine and special reports on budget execution.
Tabulates cost data on individual projects (e.g., construction, research, or maintenance) and applies basic budget analysis (e.g., cost-benefit ratios) to budgetary data to illustrate the effects of changes in levels of funding for current projects You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle.
You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
