This job involves leading a team that creates detailed design plans for about 200 bridges and structures each year, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards for Iowa's highways.
The manager oversees engineers and technicians, handles inspections, solves construction issues, and improves department policies.

The Bridges and Structures Bureau with the Iowa Department of Transportation is looking to hire a Bridge Transportation Engineer Manager (Transportation Engineer Manager) to lead the Final Design Unit to help prepare its approximately 200 design plans annually, with an estimated construction cost of approximately $300 million.
The position supervises one bridge engineer specialist, four bridge engineer associates, two design technician specialists, and one design technician in the Final Design Unit.

Shift/Travel Requirements: M-F; Flex Schedule; may travel for inspections or travel to national conferences and workshops.

Special Requirements: Applicant must have an Iowa Professional Engineering license at the time of appointment and is responsible for maintaining the license by meeting continuing education requirements and all other professional obligations required by the State of Iowa.
