This job involves managing and promoting employee benefits and wellness programs for Gwinnett County workers, including handling inquiries, processing claims, and leading educational sessions to help staff understand their options.

Key Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, Finance, or related field
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in group benefits programs, retirement programs, or worker's compensation (or one year of HR Generalist experience with Bachelor's)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong customer service skills for handling inquiries and resolving issues in person or virtually
  • Ability to facilitate presentations and training sessions, including public speaking for orientations and workshops
  • Knowledge of benefits administration, compliance, and data auditing

Job Description

This position is responsible for the strategic coordination, planning, promotion, and delivery of employee benefits and wellness programs for County employees.

The role facilitates educational presentations and training sessions in both virtual and in-person formats to ensure employees are informed and engaged with available programs and benefit offerings.

In addition, this position provides comprehensive customer service support by addressing employee inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and managing the escalation and resolution of concerns related to benefits and wellness offerings.

The role also administers and processes a variety of employee benefit programs, including disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, insurance plans, and other related benefits, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely service delivery.

Essential Duties
  • Processes a high volume of life events
  • Handles claims escalation, interacting with insurance vendors to resolve employee issues
  • Reconciles unsubstantiated claims for spending accounts.
  • Processes and administration of disability benefits
  • Facilitates benefits presentations for new hire orientation
  • Manages benefits group email
  • Adheres to benefits compliance
  • Workers' Compensation administration
  • Audits and analyzes benefits data
  • Administers benefits training and presentations
  • Assists Wellness Team with planning and management of various annual events
  • Provides customer service both in person and virtually
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Human Resources Specialist
  • Associate's Degree
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: group benefits programs, retirement programs, or worker's compensation
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above and linked below will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
Grade
The grade for this position is C41(1). Salary will be based on policy.


Human Resources Associate III
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, Finance, or a closely related field
  • One year of HR Generalist experience or three years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: group benefits programs, retirement programs, or worker's compensation
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above and linked below will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
Grade
The grade for this position is C42(1). Salary will be based on policy.
