This job involves supporting people facing substance use and mental health challenges through peer mentoring, helping them connect to resources, and creating personalized plans to overcome barriers like housing or stigma.
It's a part-time role in Baltimore County's health department, focused on community outreach and documentation.
A good fit would be someone who has personal recovery experience, is empathetic and communicative, and wants to help others in a supportive team environment.
Under general supervision, this position’s primary responsibilities are to:
Examples of Essential Duties
Provide peer support to individuals with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health concerns
Meet with program participants to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community
Create participant-driven wellness plans designed to address the barriers to wellness, including; stigma, transportation, basic needs, housing and others as defined by the participant
Provides outreach to the community and distributes literature, brochures, and other related materials in an effort to educate the general public to promote the programs and to reduce stigma
Consistently document all participant encounters and outreach efforts
Participate in, and contributes to, team meetings, providing constructive feedback to support the participants, the peer team and the peer programs
