Job Description

Summary

This job involves running a small bar at various recreational spots on a military base in Alaska, where you'll mix and serve drinks, handle customer payments, keep everything clean and stocked, and ensure patrons behave responsibly.

It's a hands-on role that requires staying on your feet, lifting supplies, and dealing with people in a friendly but firm way.

Full Job Description

This position will be used to fill vacancies for various FMWR facilities on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

These facilities include City Center, Birch Hill Ski and Snowboard Area, Chena Bend Golf Course, Warrior Zone and more! Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must meet state/local age requirements (18) for the serving of alcohol at the time of appointment. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.

Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory. Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Ability to monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.

Applies simple arithmetic in calculating bills and making change. Ability to recognize intoxicated and unruly patrons and take necessary remedial action.

Skill in recognizing impending shortages of inventory. Major Duties:

  • Operates a small full-service bar, mixing and serving the full range of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Records sales, makes change or prepares charge slips in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Stocks bar. Keeps bar, utensils, equipment and work area clean and sanitary.
  • Receives and checks quantity and description of stock.
  • Uses tact and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated.
