Under general supervision, reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director supports the strategic advancement goals of the School of Medicine Columbia by conceptualizing, planning, and executing meaningful interactions, programs, and experiences which foster deeper relationships between graduates and the institution. The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in enhancing alumni affinity and loyalty, encouraging volunteerism and participation, soliciting feedback, strengthening donor pipelines, and contributing to the philanthropic goals of the Office of Advancement through personalized communications and engagement opportunities. Demonstrates a commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated customer service intuition and savvy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, alumni, donors, faculty, administrators, and community leaders or representatives at all levels.
• Good judgement, and the ability to think through and implement complex projects to a successful end.
• Ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions with impeccable attention to detail.
• Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of alumni chapters and events.
• Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
• The ability to meet goals and objectives, and to work within the constraints of deadlines.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundraising or development experience in higher education. Familiarity and/or experience in the medical profession and/or a healthcare/health sciences field. Familiarity and/or experience with Adobe programs.
