Assists the Support Staff Manager and Chief of Staff in managing daily operations and administrative matters of the Criminal District Attorney’s Office. Supervises and monitors the duties and responsibilities of the office support staff including assisting with new work requirements and policy and procedure changes. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring statistics and compiling monthly reports and annual statistical reports. Maintains problem solving and communications posture with a wide variety of persons including attorneys, police, County agencies, and the general public. Performs complex and highly specialized duties.

Requirements
- Manages the daily operations of the Criminal District Attorney’s Office support staff.
Conducts interviews, hires, supervises, evaluates performance, counsels, and carries out discipline of clerical personnel upon consultation and approval by the Support Staff Manager.
Makes personnel assignments. Maintains accurate employee records and attendance reports, coordinating and approving vacation requests.
- Reviews and approves time entry for support staff within the Criminal District Attorney’s Office, ensuring entries comply with County and office policy.
- Coordinates with court personnel, assisting in court as necessary.
- Performs legal research regarding new laws and compiles statistical data and reports as it relates to both criminal and civil that would impact the operation of the division.
- Coordinates training for the support staff in the use of case management databases.
- Coordinates with Records Management on records sent and retrieved from the warehouse. Approves destruction orders.
- Receives, investigates, and resolves any complaints or problems.
- Assigns office space and arranges furnishings, monitors and purchases supplies, coordinates maintenance and repairs, and maintains phone lists for entire office.
- Manages the daily operations of the support staff when uploading and receiving digital media evidence and documents into case management databases
- Drafts and files motions, orders, correspondence, statement of fact forms, complaints, and jury charges.
- Complies with statutory requirements of discovery and the Office open file policy.
Prepares cases for trial. Locates, interviews, and coordinates witnesses; reviews files using basic case strategy; and develops trial notebook.
Locates and orders audio/video tapes from law enforcement. Processes jury questionnaires. Orders prior judgments and sentences, fingerprints, and jail records from counties.
- Assists attorneys and law enforcement agencies in preparation of presentations to be made to area law enforcement agencies and outside agencies. Attends various meetings.
- Obtains, maintains, and updates legal materials for library and distribution to prosecutors.
- Coordinates and maintains contact with victims and witnesses for case updates and trial preparation as needed.
- Assists law enforcement agencies requesting subpoenas to ensure technical compliance when using case management databases.
- May notarize statements, confessions, and affidavits as needed.
- Assesses information technology needs of the support staff in the Criminal District Attorney’s Office and implements information technology solutions to meet those needs.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three (3) years litigation, criminal law, or related experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Specialized training in legal writing and research.
Must have the ability to draft legal briefs, memorandums of law, and jury charges.
Must have knowledge of legal system while also possessing an administrative skill set for completing clerical duties.
Must be PC proficient with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Notary preferred but not required.
