Job Description

Summary

This job involves assisting the Inspector General by leading investigations, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance and detect issues like waste or fraud in the Navy's strategic weapons programs for ballistic missile submarines.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL in the INSPECTOR GENERAL OFFICE (SP00G) of STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing the development and/or implementation of Inspector General (IG) plans, policies, programs, and/or procedures; conducting investigations of waste, fraud, abuse or mismanagement; and/or conducting inspections and evaluations for program compliance.

  • You will perform work in one or a combination of occupational areas for General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, Certified Audit and Compliance Groups related to US ballistic missile submarine strategic weapons system programs.
  • You will plan, manage and independently complete the conduct of investigation and compliance cases, and/or monitor programs based on the analysis of the data presented, the preparation of recommendations on their disposition.
  • You will plan and manage major and continuing investigations, compliance programs, inspection programs and audit programs which involve high-priority programs, operations and areas which are central to SSP’s mission and objectives.
  • You will analyze key policy questions in the investigation/compliance inspection/audit areas and make significant agency decisions, policy recommendations and positions.
  • You will review information and systems, practices, and work processes to determine compliance with applicable standards; and prepare audit reports containing recommendations for practical solutions to correct deficiencies reported.
  • You will serve as the Lead Inspection and Investigative Specialist, gathering, analyzing, and reviewing inspection reports, internal audits, hotlines, records, forms, and record management, evaluating facts and drawing appropriate conclusions.
