This position is located in the Office of Investigations (OI), Office of the Inspector General under the provisions of Section 3(d)(2) of the Inspector General Act of 1978 (PL 95-452), as amended.
The incumbent of this position is responsible for executing a program of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and inefficiency in the operations of U.S.
Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

There is NO requirement to prepare a narrative statement specifically addressing the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): All new entrants into the Senior Executive Service (SES) under a career appointment will be assessed for executive competency against the following five mandatory ECQs.

There are five ECQs: ECQ 1: Commitment to the Rule of Law and the Principles of the American Founding - This core qualification requires a demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, and commitment to serve the American people.
ECQ 2: Driving Efficiency - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to strategically and efficiently manage resources, budget effectively, cut wasteful spending, and pursue efficiency through process and technological upgrades.
ECQ 3: Merit and Competence - This core qualification involves the demonstrated knowledge, ability and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality.
ECQ 4: Leading People - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high-accountability culture.
This includes, when necessary, the ability to lead people through change and to hold individuals accountable.
ECQ 5: Achieving Results - This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors.
Note: If you are a member of the SES or have been certified through successful participation in an OPM approved SES Candidate Development Program (SESCDP), or have SES reinstatement eligibility, you do not need to respond to the ECQs.
Instead, you should attach proof (e.g., SF-50, Certification by OPM's SES Qualifications Review Board (QRB)) of your eligibility for noncompetitive appointment to the SES.

Other Requirements for this position: The date immediately preceding an individual's 37th birthday is the maximum entry age for original appointment to a position with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) as a law enforcement officer.
PLEASE NOTE: a) This requirement does not apply to applicants eligible for veterans preference; b) An individual who is 37 year of age or older may be re-employed as a Federal law enforcement officer in the OIG if the individual has had prior coverage under the special Federal law enforcement retirement plan; c) An SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, must be submitted which shows your current grade and competitive civil service status (if you have been or are a Federal employee).
If you are 37 of age or older and have been previously covered under the special law enforcement retirement plan, please submit an SF-540 which reflects this coverage in addition to your current SF-50.
This is a drug testing designated position.
The selectee is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with OPM OIG.
Selectee must pass pre-employment medical examination. This position requires regular qualification with an issued firearm and is subject to the Lautenburg amendment.
If convicted of a crime of domestic violence, you are not eligible in accordance with 18 USC 922(g).
The selectee must successfully complete or have completed the basic criminal investigator course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA or an equivalent course.
(Retention in this position is subject to the successful completion of the training). Major Duties:
As a Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations, you will be part of the Office of Investigations.
If selected, you will be responsible for: Managing operations and directing the execution of a program of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations of wrongdoing with respect to OPM's activities.
Advising the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations regarding the development and achievement of the objectives of the OIG's investigative program.
Implementing innovative and cost-effective approaches to accomplishing the OIG's investigative responsibilities.
Representing the OIG in the Federal law enforcement community through participation in multiagency task forces, committees, working groups, and professional associations, thereby enhancing the law enforcement coverage of OPM programs and contribution to the improvement of the investigative profession.
Participating, as part of the management structure, in overall direction and control of the OIG's programs.
Ensuring caseloads align with the OIG Strategic Plan and organizational goals, are timely, the results yield appropriate remedies and adhere to investigative standards.
Managing the development of cases and proactive casework using data and data analytics. Ensuring reporting requirements are met by supporting and maintaining a robust case management system.
