This role involves helping prepare and review financial reports for the City of Houston, such as monthly and annual statements, while ensuring everything complies with rules and works smoothly across departments.
It also includes acting as a go-between for financial teams and other city groups to improve processes and handle audits.
A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with accounting experience who enjoys analyzing numbers and coordinating with others in a government setting.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSFour years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience are required. LICENSE REQUIREMENTSNone
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in government accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials, and familiarity with SAP systems.
KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
**Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
