Requirements

Laboratory assistants perform non-professional laboratory work requiring a practical knowledge of laboratory functions and services; and the ability to apply standard laboratory tools, methods and procedures to the service needs of the particular laboratory. These positions provide support and assistance to professional laboratory personnel.

LEVEL III positions assist microbiologists, medical technologists or other professional personnel in some phases of technical laboratory work; prepares standard to difficult reagents, solutions and culture media used in laboratory tests; and performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience: Laboratory Assistant LEVEL III requires TWO (2) YEARS of progressively responsible laboratory work experience which has provided the applicant with a practical knowledge of laboratory functions, apparatus and equipment, methods and procedures, and tests.
For level III, one (1) year of experience must have been comparable to the Laboratory Assistant II in State service.
