Summary

This job involves helping to review and approve payments to vendors in a county government setting, making sure everything follows rules, contracts, and laws.

Full Job Description

Assists with the audit of claims presented for payment through accounts payable and ensures that payments made to vendors comply with bid documents, contracts, county policies, and state statutes.

Requirements

  1. Reconciles accounts to general ledger and prepares journal entries.
  2. Monitors expenditures of specific funds and departments.
  3. Monitors information from other departments for accurate presentation in financial statements.
  4. Assists departments with proper accounting procedures and compliance with state statues, County policy and procedures.
  5. Prepares reports, work papers and schedules for external entities including external auditors.
  6. Monitors and reconciles selected accounts.
  7. Analyzes information from departments to detect potential error and problems.
  8. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the department as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience; CPA preferred.

  • One (1) full-time year of accounting or auditing work experience.

  • Current and valid driver's license required.

  • Position must have the ability to collect and analyze financial data and draw logical conclusions.

Additional Information

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, grasp/squeeze, hear, keyboard, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, see color, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, work alone and with others, and work overtime.
