This role involves overseeing the maintenance and management of flood protection assets like levees and river properties in King County, blending office planning with hands-on field work to ensure safety during floods and support environmental restoration.

Look no further than the River and Floodplain Management Section (RFMS), As the Asset Management Program Manager, you will be working to maintain levees, revetments and properties that keep people safe during floods.
You could be at your desk one day and, in the river, making a repair the next. You will work on a diverse portfolio of properties and build strong relationships throughout King County.
You will Provide support for river restoration, facility maintenance, natural resource conservation while you will help improve conditions for salmon and the environment.
In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Asset Management Program Manager (Project/Program Manager III) positions throughout the Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) over the next six (6) months.
About the Role:Build relationships through effective communication and outreach efforts for the Maintenance team. Lead development of stakeholder, public and tribal outreach planning and activities.
Conduct citizen and landowner contact, communication and outreach to facilitate project implementation serving as a liaison between technical staff and property owners.
Qualifications You Bring:
Experience working in complex, multi-party project management, natural resource planning efforts with a demonstrated knowledge of interjurisdictional governance public planning processes and resources management.
Demonstrated experience with natural asset or property management.
Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of public agencies to resolve problems.
Working experience with an asset management system.
Effective communication skills: Ability to listen; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences in writing, orally or visually.
Experience communicating technical and policy issues related to floodplain management with varied levels of staff, consultants, business and professional groups, citizens and landowners.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build consensus with diverse interests including elected officials, citizens, and representatives of other county, city, state and federal agencies.

Working Conditions:
Remote and Onsite Work Details: The River and Floodplain Maintenance Unit works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting.
The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is (King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104).
Other work locations are at project sites at various places throughout King County.
Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.
The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.
Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Work Schedule: This full-time position will work a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
The typical work schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday– Friday. Work outside the typical work schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required from time to time.
Participate in flood warning and emergency response programs and activities, including Flood Warning Center, flood patrols, and post-flood inspections.
Physical Requirement: This position requires the ability to conduct occasional physical site inspections and evaluations.
There is an intermittent need to walk on uneven terrain, for limited periods of time.
Field locations include existing stormwater facilities and roads, forested environments, including ravines, and possibly agricultural lands, and may expose the employee to inclement weather, slippery, uneven surfaces and other dynamic conditions typically found in rural and undeveloped portions of King County.
Ability to work outdoors in rivers and streams (in boats, inflatable kayaks, and/or wading), and to work outdoors safely during flood events.
