The Opportunity
WSDOT is seeking a Fiscal Analyst 5 – Capital Asset Accountant to join the Accounting and Reporting Team in Olympia, WA.
Reporting to the Accounting & Reporting Assistant Manager, this position serves as the agency’s primary accounting lead and financial consultant for capital assets.
This role is responsible for agency-wide financial reporting, ensuring the integrity of capital asset accounting, and providing expert-level financial consulting services across WSDOT.
The position partners with WSDOT’s regions, divisions, programs, other state agencies, and other nonstate entities to resolve complex accounting issues and support both short- and long-term organizational goals.
The Fiscal Analyst 5 supports the development and implementation of statewide capital asset accounting policy by interpreting and applying GASB standards, federal and state laws, and OFM policies.
Using advanced financial analysis and professional judgment, this position ensures consistent, accurate application of financial policies across the agency.

This is a Fiscal Analyst 5 position.
However, the hiring manager reserves the right to fill the position at a lower level in the classification series based on candidate qualifications, providing an opportunity for an individual to gain the required experience on the job as part of a formal “in-training” plan.
