The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for an Analyst/Programmer 1/2/3 located in Juneau!

What you will be doing:
  • Apply familiarity with MTAL operations — or an eagerness to develop it — to assess and modernize the lab's legacy software and databases.
  • Learn and grow as a programmer while working on real systems that matter — the data infrastructure behind Alaska's fisheries conservation.
  • Collaborate with lab staff to rewrite and improve legacy tools, making them faster, more reliable, and built for the future.
  • Play a direct role in sustaining the systems that support the management of Alaska's rich fish populations.

This position is located at the MTAL in Juneau, where you'll have your own dedicated workspace and work closely with familiar lab staff.

Requirements

Successful completion of nine (9) semester hours of college-level coursework in computer languages or system analysis.

OR

Three months of actual computer programming experience.

OR

One year of work experience using a computer for analysis, including experience in the use of computer reporting languages, spreadsheets, or statistical packages.

Special Note:

An applicant who will complete the required college-level coursework within three (3) months of hire qualifies to apply for this job class.

An applicant qualifying under this option may receive a job offer conditional upon completion of the required college-level coursework and proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.

For some positions in these job classes, a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
