Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield is seeking an Airport Operations Coordinator to assist Airport Leadership in directing the activities of workers concerned with maintenance and construction projects, airport certification, airport security, airport operations, and noise abatement.

The typical starting salary range will be $64,188 - $73,000 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. Requirements

Essential Function Examples

Meets FAA Part 139 Compliance by conducting airfield inspections of runways, taxiways, ramps, fuel trucks and fuel facilities to identify hazards and ensure adherence to federal safety standards.

Developing, overseeing, and educating staff on the airport's Safety Management System to mitigate operational risks.

Train Airport Operations and Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with FAR part 139 regulations.

Develop and Maintain Airport Part 139 Training programs and training records for Airport Staff and Operators.

Directing workers in maintenance and construction projects to ensure they do not compromise airfield safety.

Monitoring airfield conditions and filing NOTAMs (Notices to Air Missions) to alert pilots of hazards or facility changes.

Managing security programs, including badging, monitoring systems, and ensuring compliance with TSA regulations.

Directing workers in maintenance and construction projects to ensure they do not compromise airfield safety.

Maintain currency of Airport Certification Documents including but not limited to Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Snow and Ice Control Plan, and Airport Security Plan.

Marginal Function Examples

Supporting logistically intensive community events like the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo

Maintaining non-critical operational logs and administrative documentation for tenant requests or minor incidents.

Resolving minor complaints or providing general information to airport patrons and tenants.

Representing the airport in community noise abatement education or public relations efforts.

Performing other related duties assigned to support general airport productivity (i.e: snow and ice removal).

Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Airport Management, Business Administration, Aeronautical Science or a related field; and a minimum of two years’ airport management experience.

Requires a current, valid driver's license.

Additional Information

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.

The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.

After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.

Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
