BASIC FUNCTION
Perform routine manual labor tasks and operate a variety of light equipment as directed.
Requirements
STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Drives a variety of single axle trucks, forklifts, tractors, mowing and snow clearing equipment.
- Performs routine cleaning, service and maintenance as listed, outlined and/or recommended in dealer/distributor operators manuals on assigned equipment to exclude the machining, sharpening or balancing of blades and/or major overhauls to the equipment itself.
- Picks up and delivers equipment, materials, parts, and supplies as required.
- Performs a variety of routine cleaning tasks on Airport facilities and equipment.
- Sets up facilities for a variety of meetings and events.
- Performs a variety of routine grounds and landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, watering, weeding, raking, planting, fertilizing, pesticide/herbicide spraying, and pick and shovel work on Airport landscape areas.
- Performs pavement maintenance such as pavement cutting, routing, and crack sealing, surface coating, and patching.
- Works alongside, coordinating the team efforts of peer group workers, subordinates, temporary workers and work release inmates, under the direct or indirect supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor or his assigned representative.
STATEMENT OF OTHER DUTIES
- May assist Airport Maintenance Technicians as a helper performing menial tasks in support of maintenance projects.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
One (1) year experience in routine maintenance and landscaping work; OR any combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Experience in airport facility maintenance and landscaping is preferred. Must pass job related tests.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Aid Card and CPR Certification within ninety (90) days of employment is required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Washington State Traffic Flagging card within ninety (90) days of employment is required.
Candidates for employment may be required to pass a post-offer physical examination prior to being hired. A written and field test also may be required.
A valid State of Washington Driver's License is preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
The work involves a variety of manual labor tasks requiring some strenuous physical effort such as lifting objects weighing in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
SUPERVISION
Employee reports to senior level Airport Maintenance Lead Worker or an Airport Maintenance Supervisor, or their directed representative, as assigned. The work is routine and recurring in nature and may be spot checked to ensure timely completion and compliance with instructions, procedures and standards. Specific instructions are given for unusual or non-routine tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather at airport work sites and throughout the county. Employees may be exposed to a variety of hazards and are exposed to dust, fumes, grease, and inclement weather. Employees are required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
