Job Description

Summary

This role at the Eugene Airport involves enforcing parking and security rules, monitoring areas for compliance, issuing citations, and performing maintenance on parking equipment and grounds.

The Eugene Airport is looking to hire a Ground Transportation Officer. The motivated person will perform a variety of duties regarding enforcement of parking rules and regulations, perform operation assignments, and perform a variety of skilled maintenance duties to maintain landside grounds and parking equipment.

Department/Division: Public Works Department / Airport Division
Salary Range: $26.28 - $32.69 / hourly; $54,662.40 - $67,995.20 / annually

Location: 28855 Lockheed Drive, Eugene, OR
Working Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday. - 2:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Employees expected to work a swing or graveyard shift are eligible for shift differential of $0.80 per hour.

Must pass a TSA Background Check and a City of Eugene Background Check.



Requirements

Enforces airport rules in conjunction with airport security, including trespassing, loitering, disorderly conduct, storage, parking, inspection, taxis and ground transportation. Conducts other operational assignments, including: provides escorts to airfield and into SIDA areas; responds to security breaches, investigates cause, and sweeps building; responds to gate for aircraft emergencies; checks identification and maintains logs.

Assists in general airport operations by monitoring the parking areas and security gates. And monitors airport terminal loading/unloading area for compliance with parking regulations.

Issues parking citations for parking violations.

Conduct relocation of vehicles violating prescribed signs and security requirements.

Performs a variety of maintenance of ground transportation infrastructure repair/

Participates in annual emergency exercises and attends regular airport operations training.

Provides general information and assistance to airport patrons.

Provides basic first aid and other life saving measures if trained.

Performs non-electrical repairs to parking access control systems.

Performs a variety of minor preventive maintenance and/or repair projects.

Maintains a variety of work records.

May operate transportation access control system, including account creation, issuance of access devices and running reports.

Actively supports and respects diversity in the workplace.

Must be available to work all shift, all days of the week (24-7 operations).

May be required to perform work outside in varying and extreme weather conditions while exposed to a variety of hazards; may be required to lift heavy objects and equipment.

Performs other duties as required.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Three years experience in ground transportation, parking/code enforcement, facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, or in a construction trade; experience in airport operations desirable. Must be able to become "operations certified" within the probationary period.

License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain a valid Oregon State driver's license with appropriate classification or endorsement as determined by the equipment operated (Class A or B CDL).

Possession of, or ability to obtain, Verbal Judo certification.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, DPSST Unarmed Security Professional certification.

Possession of, or ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and AED certifications.

Possession of, or ability to obtain Flagger Certification.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

The ability to learn or have current knowledge of Airport parking regulations and basic airport operation principles.

The ability to learn or have current knowledge of Airport transportation rules and federal, state and city codes pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Advanced customer service practices, including conflict management, situational awareness, de- escalation tactics, and problem solving.

The ability to learn or have current knowledge of applicable safety hazards and standard precautions pertaining to the Eugene Airport.

The ability to learn or have current knowledge of computer software such as Flash, Microsoft applications and other various web applications.

The ability to learn or have current knowledge of Airport Rules and Regulations, basic airport operations and airfield familiar, Part 139 and 1542 requirements and emergency plans and procedures.

Independently exercise knowledge and discretion to assess violations and develop solutions while maintain composure and professionalism during emotionally charged customer interactions while firmly delivering exceptional customer service

Work independently or as part of a crew.

Communicate effectively with employees, regulatory staff, airport tenants and patrons.

Prepare written records and reports.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Attend required airport operations training and exercises to become "operations certified".

Perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Provide and wear personal protective equipment.

Be available and respond for emergency call-back as necessary.

Respond calmly to emergency situations.

Exercise good judgment in a highly complex safety-critical environment.

Successfully pass a TSA fingerprint-based criminal history background check.
