Full Job Description

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Position for an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1367000 and is a part of the 169 MXS, South Carolina Air National Guard.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 2 ONLY: AOC DEFINITIONS: Area 1: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard.

(Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Min/Max Military Grades: AB/E-1, AMN/E-2, A1C/E-3, SrA/E-4, SSgt/E-5, TSgt/E-6 MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines.

Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies.

Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment.

Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Eligible for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status when designated to participate in Army Maintenance Test Flights. 1.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3.

You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. Major Duties:

This position is located in a National Guard aircraft maintenance organization.

Its primary purpose is to perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipment.

Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems.

Troubleshoots, removes, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, and/or tests pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment.

Accomplishes periodic and special inspections on hydraulic components. Inspects all components and subsystems for operation, internal, and external leakage and servicing.

Operates portable test stands for checkout of pneudraulic system. Removes, installs, and/or repairs Pneudraulic components from aircraft and associated aerospace ground equipment.

Removes, disassembles, cleans, repairs, assembles components, and tests completed unit. Operates test equipment for all hydraulic components.

Inspects for cracks, scratches, nicks, and holes on seals, gaskets, packings, and hoses. Modifies systems and their components.

Rigs, adjusts, and aligns hydraulic components to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Polishes cylinders and pistons to ensure proper fit.

Investigates pneudraulic failures to determine causes and accomplishes corrective maintenance.
