Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and repairing the weapons and munitions systems on aircraft, including troubleshooting issues, installing equipment, and ensuring everything works safely for the Air National Guard.

It's based in Tucson, Arizona, and suits someone with hands-on mechanical experience in aviation or military settings who enjoys detailed technical work.

A good fit would be a current or former service member with progressively more advanced skills in ordnance repair, up to the level of a technical sergeant.

Key Requirements

  • At least 12 months of experience repairing ordnance equipment and components for WG-08 level
  • 18 months of experience in planning repairs, modifications, and installations for WG-10 level
  • 24 months of experience in advanced troubleshooting and using test equipment for WG-11 level
  • Military grades from AB/E-1 to TSgt/E-6, with compatible assignment 2W1X1
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency with hand tools, measuring devices, and test equipment for electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • National Guard Title 32 excepted service eligibility

Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC T32, PDD1736P01and is part of the AZ 162nd Wing, National Guard.

Military Grades: AB/E-1 to TSgt/E-6 Compatible Military Assignments: 2W1X1 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-08: Must possess at least 12 months experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components.

Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering drawings.

Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-10: Must possess at least 18 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems.

Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment.

Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-11: Must possess at least 24 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems.

Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment.

Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications. Major Duties:

This position is with the 162d WG located in Tucson, Arizona.

The primary purpose of the position is to troubleshoot, repair, install, modify, test and adjust aircraft ordnance systems, equipment and components.

On and/or off-equipment inspection, modification, overhaul, troubleshooting and repair capability of weapons release and gun systems; verifies and analyzes malfunctions, troubleshoots, tests, inspects and loads/unloads conventional munitions; installs/removes weapons delivery equipment, launchers and gun systems.
