Full Job Description

This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, position description D1734P01, within the 177 AMX SQ of the New Jersey National Guard.

This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall over all operations of a small shop.

The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

General Experience: Must have the following experience(s); Repairing malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components Using sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings Using test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of the following experience(s); Planning and laying out repair sequence to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions Using hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment Using a variety of test equipment Interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications Major Duties:

  • As an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-11, you will: Review and analyze aircrew debriefs and data transfer equipment information Solve aircraft ordnance malfunctions by analyzing the installation, circuitry and operating characteristics of the electronic ordnance system Remove faulty units (matrix assemblies) and isolate problems to failing component parts Analyze equipment malfunctions and repair systems and perform aircraft weapons systems functional checks Conduct off-equipment troubleshooting and functional checks of electronic weapons control systems Perform scheduled and unscheduled in-use/in-storage inspections and maintenance
