This job involves inspecting, repairing, and testing mechanical systems on aircraft to ensure they meet safety and performance standards at a naval facility in California.

You will serve as an AIRCRAFT MECHANICAL REPAIR INSPECTOR in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department, and MRO Production Group of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is Ability to Inspect and includes performing common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Installing, adjusting, aligning, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes (i.e., airframe, landing gear, power plant, rotor drive, gear boxes, rotor heads, etc.) during overhaul, repair, and modification; 2) Disassembling components/systems and determining the required repairs, reassemblies, and reinstalls on an aircraft; 3) Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and vent systems; 4) Utilizing a wide variety of precision measuring instruments (i.e., calipers, protractors, micrometers, hand tools, test equipment, etc.); 5) Rigging, function testing, and troubleshooting systems to determine when they are working properly, and determining the extent of adjustment and alignment needed; 6) Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics diagrams to perform assigned aircraft mechanical and inspection duties; and (7) Assisting in providing technical guidance to other employees in support of agency mission and objectives.
