Full Job Description

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D0806000, and is part of the 169 MXS, South Carolina Air National Guard.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 1 ONLY:AOC DEFINITIONS: Area 1: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard.

(Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Air National Guard .Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Min/Max Mil Grades: E7/E8 MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the employing state's National Guard.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.

Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of the subordinate work activities and functions.

Work is carried out by two or more separate organizational units and is controlled through a small number of subordinate supervisors. The work involves two or more dissimilar or unrelated occupations.

The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.

Supervisor provides general instructions for the accomplishment of assigned work operations within the limits of policies and basic production schedules set by management officials.

Completed work is evaluated for effective and economical use of personnel, equipment, materials, and methods to meet production goals and quality standards.
