This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the PA Army Aviation Support Facility 1, National Guard.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Army Aviation Support Facility 1 AOC 2: NG Employees in the State Army Aviation Office (This includes AASF 1, AASF 2, and EAATS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.
INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician.
Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period.
Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.
Military Grades: ENLISTED E1-E6 Supervisor for this position is SFC Bauer *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance -Individual(s) nominated must successfully complete a baseline initial employment physical examination in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 339 and Technician Personnel Regulation TPR 335.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications.
Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
The ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.
Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Major Duties:
As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, you will manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.
Ensure Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft.
Clear Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others.
Plan, develop and conduct proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.
Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Comply with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
