Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves inspecting and evaluating aircraft sheet metal systems and components to identify issues and ensure they meet safety and performance standards at a naval facility.
The role requires making technical decisions on repairs and using engineering documents to guide the work.
It's a good fit for experienced mechanics with hands-on skills in aircraft maintenance who enjoy detailed analysis and problem-solving in a military aviation setting.
You will serve as an Aircraft Examiner (Sheet Metal Mechanic) in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT, and includes the following: 1) Examining, evaluating, and analyzing the condition of aircraft hydraulic, pneudraulic, and other mechanical systems, components, and accessories; 2) Determining the induction configuration and establishing which technical directives must be accomplished to produce the required product configuration; 3) Applying working knowledge of examination and evaluation processes such as, induction, aircraft inventory, system evaluation troubleshooting, logbook review, technical directive review, and application of engineering specifications; and 4) Interpreting information from various sources such as blueprints, engineering specifications, and technical directives to accomplish work tasks.
