Full Job Description

You will serve as a AIRCRAFT ARRESTING GEAR SYSTEMS REPAIRER FOREMAN in the Naval Air Station North Island of NB CORONADO.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:1) Applying mechanical skills to understand charts, diagrams and maintenance manuals; 2) Conducting engine tune-ups/adjustments and timing engines according to established specifications; and 3) Maintaining related logs and maintenance schedule charts for assigned equipment to maintain compliance with service record changes and service bulletins.

  • You will ensure all equipment is maintained per current directive, safety inspections are conducted, preventive maintenance services timely/efficient, downtime maintained at a minimum and maintains all required inventory records.
  • You will accomplish arresting gear engine tune ups, parts replacement (i.e., torque, converters, starters, generators and changing fluid at prescribed intervals or as required).
  • You will ensure compliance with service record changes and service bulletins.
  • You will respond to aircraft emergency arrested landings to assist in releasing aircraft from arresting gear, return the gear to battery and secure the affected runway for continued operations.
