The Department of Environmental Protection is actively looking to fill the position of Air Quality Engineering Trainee. Requirements
In this position, you will be responsible for preparing Comment and Response Documents to effectively address feedback received both internally and during the public comment period.
Your duties will include assessing the technical and economic viability of various types of instrumentation and equipment, such as dust collectors, scrubbers, and oxidizers, which are essential for controlling emissions.
Additionally, you will ensure compliance with municipal and public notice requirements for each application, which involves posting notices of permit actions in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
You will also be tasked with monitoring actions and tasks related to applications within the Environmental Facility Application Compliance Tracking System (eFACTS).
Furthermore, your role will involve reviewing requests for determinations, plan approval applications, and operating permit applications submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for both new and existing sources at various facilities.
It is crucial to provide guidance to the regulated community regarding compliance issues, detailing how adherence to applicable state and federal regulations can be achieved through proper operation, maintenance, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting practices.Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may require overnight travel as needed.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
