Requirements
Independently performs skilled preventive maintenance work in operating, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a variety of air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems and equipment and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Experience: TWO (2) YEARS of work experience in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, as a fully competent Air Conditioning Mechanic.Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants must possess Supervisory Aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g., by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indication the possession of supervisory potential.
Certification Required: In accordance with Section 608 of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Air Act, 1990, as amended, certification as a Universal Technician is required.
