Job Description

Summary

This job involves independently maintaining, repairing, and overhauling air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems for the Hawaii Air National Guard.

Workers perform skilled preventive maintenance and other related tasks to keep equipment running smoothly.

It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience as a mechanic's helper or apprentice who enjoys technical work in a military support setting.

Requirements

Independently performs skilled preventive maintenance work in operating, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a variety of air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems and equipment and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience: FOUR (4) YEARS of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and overhaul of air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as a helper or apprentice under a journey level air conditioning and/or refrigeration mechanic.

Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.


Certification Required: In accordance with Section 608 of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Air Act, 1990, as amended, certification as a Universal Technician is required.

NOTE: If a copy of your certificate is not submitted at the time of application, your application will be rejected.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Physical Requirements:
