Full Job Description

This National Guard position is for a AERIAL DELIVERY SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2150000 and is part of the Special Operations Force Equipment Pool located at Camp Williams, UT, with the Utah Army National Guard.

This vacancy priority is those who are current military members of the Utah Army National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is CPT Keith Hayes.

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify an applicant for one of the FWS 5210 positions, apply and evaluate the applicant's competencies, military and civilian experiences, completed education, learned skills, obtained knowledge, endorsed abilities, and training program accomplishments.

The following five basic qualification factors are applicable to the FWS 5210 positions: Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communication; Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats; Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; and, Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of specialized experience and competencies equivalent to the FWS 5210 work.

Applicant must have career broadening experiences in leading, planning and scheduling work in a manner that promoted smooth flows and even distribution of assigned work requirements.

Candidate must have experiences that included training and guiding employees in technical aerial delivery work. Must have experiences in managing work functions and discipline requirements.

Experiences involved establishing or meeting deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods, and policies.

Experienced in identifying and applying the appropriate skills, materials, and equipment required to do the work.

Experienced in conducting employee performance evaluations; mentoring junior rank employees, managing resources and budgets; and directing assigned work, and leading the employees on all program tasks, inspections, exercises, deployments, and/or mobilizations.

Experienced in effectively and efficiently planning and scheduling work. Experienced in managing people that included leading, directing, and assigning tasks and projects to personnel.

Experienced in structuring assignments to create viable procedures that resulted in measured and improved task processes.

Experienced in creating and implementing improvements in mentoring programs and strategies, executed training applications and career development that resulted in the employees' increased performance values in quality work, timeliness considerations, and work efficiencies.

Experienced in working or negotiating with the local labor unions and equal employment and affirmative action guidelines.

Competent in the safety of equipment and material handled and for the safety of workers near rigged or aerial delivery objects.

Experienced in the wear and care of appropriate safety equipment; with demonstrated experiences in training and directing safety precautions. Major Duties:

MAJOR DUTIES: This is not an all-inclusive list As a AERIAL DELIVERY SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-5210-10, you will: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.

Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods, and policies. Determines skills, materials, and equipment required to do the work.

Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests.

Provides workload data, estimates, and information on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work. Assigns tasks to be performed.

Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas.

Reviews work in progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work.

Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors.

Assures that equipment and material is available when needed. Coordinates work with other units. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.

Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.

Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on problems. Adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives.

Takes informal corrective action on conductor performance problems . Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed.

Works to achieve the objectives of government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations.

Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed.

Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews position descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy.

Initiates the detailing of subordinates to positions other than their own.

Initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining.

Performs non-supervisory work of the function as needed. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follows pertinent safety precautions.

Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization, and command support exercises.

May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Performs other duties as assigned.
