Job Description

Summary

This role involves teaching advanced manufacturing courses at a technical college, developing lesson plans, advising students, and engaging with the community and industry to promote technical education.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in manufacturing or engineering who enjoys instructing others and staying current with industry trends.

The position requires flexibility for travel and working in various settings like labs, high schools, and correctional facilities.

Key Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Vocational Education, or related field, plus industrial experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology or Engineering preferred
  • Certification in NIMS or Manufacturing, or willingness to obtain it
  • Knowledge of automation equipment including PLCs, sensors, motor drives, robots, industrial HMI, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated teaching abilities and experience in higher education principles
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight
  • Strong communication skills for student advising, community outreach, and professional relationships

Full Job Description

Develops curriculum outlines and designs multiple modalities of instruction to provide assistance to students and college administration by promoting technical manufacturing education and participating in community and industry outreach initiatives.

Teaching Performance: Providing students with course syllabus, following grading/attendance policy and other relevant information in a timely manner, relating instructional practical examples and illustrations; pacing the instruction over the semester, providing students with timely tests and feedback, relating tests to course objectives, and following acceptable department and college policies.

Faculty member shall participate in assessments, evaluation, and implementation for continuous improvement.Instructional Development: Developing and maintaining course documentation, reviewing, and selecting textbooks for courses in subject area; maintaining audio visual and/or other materials for courses taught through any medium; being organized and well prepared for classes; scheduling of class and lab time effectively.Student Advisement: Maintaining and publicizing office hours, referring students for appropriate assistance, maintaining advising records, and showing sensitivity to students' needs.College and/or Community Service: Assisting with recruitment as required, assisting with job/transfer placement or recommendations as required, cooperating with or participating in projects/activities of other instructional and support areas in fulfillment of the college's mission, serving effectively on college/community committees.Instructional Management: Submitting reports in a timely manner, arranging physical environment as much as possible for effective learning adhering to class schedules, providing effective classroom/lab supervision, maintaining accurate records, providing disciplinary action where appropriate.Professional Development: Developing an annual professional development plan in conjunction with supervisor, attending courses/seminars/workshops as required or planned, writing manuscripts, or presenting papers at conferences, etc., doing research projects in subject field.

Requirements Associate's Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical, Vocational Education, and/or related fields with industrial experience.

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Technology or Engineering. Certification in NIMS or Manufacturing Certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education.

Knowledge and/or work experience in automation related to equipment operation such as PLCs, sensors, motor drives, robots, industrial HMI, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

Knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility. Knowledge of college mission, goals, and objectives, and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility.

Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff. Ability to establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty, and others.

Ability to interpret and apply all related laws. Demonstrates teaching abilities. Additional Information Valid driver's license required. Teaching environments include classroom and lab.

Local travel to business/industry and community campuses required. Some short-term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional development may require some overnight stays.

Teaching locations include State, Federal, and Juvenile correctional facilities, high schools, community campuses, and industry.
