About the Position: This is a Administrative Support Technician (Office Automation), GS-0303-06, with the Harrisburg Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces meet the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD and the military services.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing administrative support such as maintaining files, calendars, and screening telephone calls 2) Preparing office correspondence 3) Utilizing office automation software to prepare various types of documents, AND 4) provide support on various human resources matters such as time and attendance, recruitment, and awards.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Major Duties:

  • Serve as the primary civilian and military personnel systems manager for employees of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
  • Receives all visitors and business-related phone calls to direct to appropriate staff or office.
  • Serve as timekeeper providing advice to supervisors on time and leave procedures.
  • Maintain files, records, manuals, handbooks, media, and other related materials.
  • Process mail to include distribution to appropriate staff members and post office.
